Charity event
Last semester, I organized a charity event through my sorority, Pi Beta Phi, to raise funds to support childrens literacy in Milwaukee. Our goal was to engage the campus community in a fun and interactive way while raising as much money as possible. The challenge was to create an event that would not only attract participation but also encourage generous donations.
To make the event appealing, we decided to hold a “Pie-in-the-Face” fundraiser, where participants could purchase pies to throw at sorority members. I coordinated the event logistics, including marketing on campus to attract students and faculty and arranging materials and setup. I also reached out to key university figures, and we were thrilled when the president of Marquette agreed to attend and support the event, boosting its visibility and encouraging more participation. I collaborated with my sorority sisters to ensure that we maintained a positive, engaging atmosphere that encouraged donations throughout the day. The event was a great success, raising almost a thousand dollars, which exceeded our initial expectations. The president’s attendance brought additional attention, and the campus community’s enthusiastic involvement helped us achieve our fundraising goals. The positive feedback we received emphasized the effectiveness of the event’s unique approach, making it a memorable experience for participants and volunteers alike.
